| Whilst Duchy Ballet is the
brainchild of Kay Jones, it’s Artistic Director, a small
team of people has worked on all the productions, helping to
establish the style of the company and the high standards for
which the company is now known.
Kay is thrilled that the Duchy Ballet performs to live music.
From the beginning it was a deliberate decision that the production
should be accompanied by an orchestra. For the audience it
creates extra excitement adding an audio dimension to the
visual. The thrill of live music acts as a great stimulant
to the performers encouraging them to be more responsive as
they hear the nuances in the music and as they have to be
prepared to react to variations in tempi!
When Kay is asked where could an orchestra be found in Cornwall
she is proud to be able to point to the great musical tradition
in the county, which still thrives today and is evident in
the wealth of artistic talent, which has come together to
form such a splendid orchestra under the baton of David Frost.
