FAQs

How do I get in to Duchy Ballet?
Auditions are held each year in September/October. Notices are sent to Ballet Schools around the county and advertised on the likes of Pirate FM's website and other local news outlets. The audition is usually at Chacewater Village Hall

Where are rehearsals held?
Most rehearsals take place at Poltair School in St Austell. They usually start a couple of weeks or so after auditions on receipt of a letter informing you if you were successful. They are weekly and can take place on most days of the Spring Half Term.

What will it cost?
There is an audition fee to cover the cost of the venue and then a performance fee to assist with the cost of rehearsals, costumes etc. This is announced each year.

Will I need to buy anything?
Depending on your role you may need some different shoes. In most cases we can provide them from our costume department.

What happens during performance week?
It is a busy week. There are Dress rehearsals leading up to the performances which take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with a matinee on the Saturday. Expect some late nights and some bleary eyes at school. The results are well worth all the effort though.
