Coppelia
This season marked a return to the classical repertoire.
“Coppelia” is a great narrative ballet, full of
humour. The musical score by Delibes is full of good tunes
and there are excellent opportunities to display the talents
of all age groups. The rehearsal period was joyous and we
enjoyed the participation of adults in the production as well
as memorable performances by Terence Etheridge of the doll-maker,
Dr. Coppelius.
Guest artists were Laura Hussey (English National Ballet)
and Orlando Russell (now with Dutch National Ballet).
However, we also produced two Swanildas from our own company.
These were Robyn Green and Melissa Matthews who were partnered
by Jonathon Barton from Ballet West, Scotland.
