  Auditions for The Nutcracker

Duchy Ballet, the youth ballet company for Cornwall, is holding open auditions for its production of Tchaikovosky’s masterpiece “The Nutcracker”.

It is the first time the Duchy Ballet has held open auditions, since becoming a limited company under the banner Theatre and Dance Works Cornwall.

Alistair Whyte of Coodes Solicitors has been elected chairman, while Kay Cecile Jones, who set up the company in 1997, continues as artistic director.

Mrs Jones is keen to harness dancing talent from all over the county. She said “We hope this change will bring lots of new, young, talented dancers to the Duchy Ballet. The future will be made more secure by achieving this new corporate status”.

Auditions for “The Nutcracker” will take place on Sunday October 16th at Chacewater Village Hall.

The production will be staged at the Hall For Cornwall, Truro from April 4th – 8th.
